What we do

Hard outdoor surfaces, cleaned properly

Gipping Exterior Care is a local exterior surface cleaning business working across Ipswich and the surrounding Suffolk villages. The work is driveways, patios, block paving, paths, steps, paved courtyards and hard-standing areas — the surfaces that hold moss, algae, weeds and years of built-up grime because they sit in shade, under trees or take daily traffic.

Most of what we clean falls into a handful of materials: concrete block paving, poured and brushed concrete, riven and smooth paving slabs, Indian sandstone, and occasionally porcelain or a resin-bound drive where it is suitable. Each of those behaves differently under water, so the starting point is always a look at what the surface actually is and what condition it is in.

We do not treat pressure as the answer to everything. A tired sandstone patio covered in black spot needs a different approach to a block-paved drive that has simply gone green over a couple of damp winters. Getting that judgement right is the difference between a surface that looks clean and a surface that has been scoured, stripped of its jointing sand or left with pressure lines across it.

Typical jobs

  • Block-paved drive, green with algae, joints full of weed and moss
  • Older concrete path and side alley with heavy grime and slippery patches
  • Shaded rear patio marked with black spot lichen
  • Paved parking area with tyre marks and oil staining
  • Shop entrance and paved forecourt needing a regular clean

Surface-aware cleaning

Different surfaces need different treatment

Pressure is only one of the variables. Nozzle choice, distance, water volume, whether a pre-treatment is used and how long it is left all change the result. Material, age and existing damage should be assessed before any of it starts.

Block paving

Takes a firm clean well, but the jointing sand comes out with the dirt. If nobody puts sand back, the joints stay open and weeds return faster. Re-sanding is part of the job, not an upsell.

Ipswich & Suffolk

Local work, local surfaces

From block-paved drives around Kesgrave, Rushmere and Broke Hall to older patios, paths and concrete aprons across Chantry, Stoke Park, Maidenhall and Whitton, most of the work sits within a short drive of the town. Newer estates around Whitehouse and Castle Hill tend to be block paving with open joints; the streets nearer Holywells, Gainsborough and Priory Heath throw up more concrete, older slabs and shaded side passages that stay damp most of the year.

Suffolk weather does the rest. Long damp spells and shade from mature trees mean algae and moss come back on north-facing paving whatever anyone promises you.
